Last Thursday, May 27, the new Geberit headquarters of Asia/Pacific was inaugurated in Shanghai (CN). The celebration was characterized by traditional actions and prominent representatives of Geberit and government.
A Chinese drum-solo opened the inauguration celebration. It accompanied the countdown to the start of the festivities. The Geberit Directors Günter F. Kelm and Randolf Hanslin, CEO Albert M. Baehny, Michael Schumacher, Head of the Geberit region Asia/Pacific and Manfred Koenigslehner, Technical Director as well as a representative of the local government and the Swiss Consul General of Shanghai pressed each an actuator plate, whereupon a large Geberit logo in front of the main entrance was filled with water. Then the doors opened and two dancing lions appeared. Albert M. Baehny and Günter F. Kelm had the honor to paint the eyes of the lions. According to Chinese tradition this means to wake up the lion and to activate its spirit - symbolically for the new building.
As usual on openings, different speeches were held. Representatives of Geberit and the local government as well as the Consul General of Switzerland expressed their joy and congratulations. With the words: „ Be ready for favorable winds!“ Albert M. Baehny handed Michael Schumacher and his team a Swiss cow bell over. Appropriately, the city presented Geberit a wooden cow.
Altogether 350 guests participated in the celebration. Gladly they used the possibility to visit the building.
With fireworks, which were ignited after dusk, the inauguration festivities reached another highlight.
