New Information
The winners of Geberit China University Scholarship 2009 announced herein below:
In cooperation with the 5 universities, Geberit has received 48 thesis composed by 74 students. After a comprehensive assessment and review by judgment team, it’s decided that the first prize would only be awarded to Beijing University of Technology, second and third prized would be awarded to the rest of the schools.
All the theses would be collected into the 1st Geberit China University Scholarship book and the participants would be certificated accordingly.
The winners from the five universities (11 in all) will be invited to join the awarding ceremony in Geberit AP headquarter Shanghai on 26th Feb.2010.
The detail arrangement will be contacted with each university in the coming month.

Project Background
Currently, China spares no efforts on saving energies and reducing emission, so as to encourage development of green buildings with advanced technology. Thus, sustainability could be achieved; Green buildings are originated from design. Particularly the designer shall create the high-tech design proposal which suits local circumstances, so that the sustainable concept could be realized.
Geberit, so far, recognizes that green building plumbing technology has not been widely trained to students in universities and colleges yet. Therefore, the future designers may neither understand the advanced system technology nor take use of the new materials and techniques. In this case, the upcoming designers are not able to master their skills till quite a long period of time. Not to mention the influence on the business customers.
Geberit announces “University Scholarship Program” in combination with “Know-How” Technology series lectures. It is anticipated to be continuously held and face the students major in architectural engineering (water supply and drainage design specialty). The objective is to share the latest high-tech products and integrated system thinking with those future elites, and to improve their abilities in developing, analyzing and studying in the professional field.

Grade3 students major in plumbing technology or related study, detailed information refer as below
• Geberit Know-How Technology Series Lectures
Combined with the existing building water supply and drainage course, Geberit introduces the green building system technology as core-to-date information. Through case studies and future employment-related skills training, the professional standards of students could be enhanced

- Sustainability in buildings

• Social Practice Activities
Geberit could provide some students with appropriate social practice in summer and winter vacations, such as participation in job internships or related research projects, to help students master the perceptual knowledge
• On site visit of projects、demo tower and labs
Students could be organized to visit on site after series lectures, so as to enhance the impression of systematic thinking on modern technology
• Publication on trade magazine and thesis collection
The outstanding thesis works of awarded students will be recommended by Geberit to publish in some domestic famous magazines
Project Plan
• Progress one after another for brand image in universities
Phase I: Geberit China University Scholarship will be announced in 5 universities, and the Know-How series lectures will be jointly launched at the same time;
Phase II: main activities (lectures、skill training, social practice, on site visit etc) will be carried out with the cooperative universities;
Phase III: based on the implementation at previous phases, the scholarship will be awarded according to the objective criteria; an optimized template menu including scholarship program, series lectures and interactions would be set up aimed at universities.
About Scholarship

Geberit products are widely applied in new buildings and modified or extended buildings. 3rd grade students from 5 universities as below can submit their applications for the scholarship:
• College of Environmental Science and Engineering, TongJi University;
• School of Municipal and Environmental Engineering, Harbin institute of Technology;
• Faculty of Urban Construction & Environmental Engineering, Chongqing University;
• School of Environmental Science and Engineering, HuaZhong University of Science & Technology;
• College of Architecture and Civil Engineering, Municipal Engineering, Beijing University of
Technology.

Comparison of same floor drainage with traditional cross floor drainage, technical difference

Evaluation of same floor drainage system: product, application, commercial benefit, installation in
construction process etc.

• Quota and amount of scholarship
The scholarship is set up with 3 ranks: 1st prize, 2nd prize, and 3rd prize. It would be 3 winners from each university, 15 students in all. (Detailed information available at: scholarship.cn@geberit.com.cn)
• Criteria of scholarship judgment
The applicants should fill the application form and submit their thesis on time with the specified subjects. All thesis should be completely originally. No violence to the academic morality is allowed.
The judging team will conduct the first round of selection of the theses and related documents submitted by students. The qualified students from this round will be interviewed by the judging team and the awarded students will be finally determined afterwards.
The scholarship grades will be determined by the scores (considering the creativity, depth of the content, economical benefits, feasibility analysis, reference information etc.)
The judging team will be composed from different units to make sure its specialty and equity: several experts (invited), 1 representative from every university, 2 senior manager and technical advisor from Geberit.
• Process of scholarship judgment
• Geberit China University Scholarship will be announced to the 5 universities during March and April
2009.
• The application notice of the scholarship will be issued in April, at the same time all related
information about the tutors and forms will be online at Geberit website.
• The application form and selected subject including the thesis abstract should be filled and
submitted until 31st May 2009.

• The applicants can make study on their thesis and complete until 31st Aug 2009.
• All thesis should be collected by the end of 31st Aug. 2009, the result will be made by judgment
team in Sep.
