The Geberit Mepla multilayer pipe system combines the advantages of synthetic and metallic materials. This enables fast work progress on the building site in compliance with applicable standards and regulations. Mepla can be used flexibly and quickly and is permanently leakproof.

Corrosion-resistant, durable and light
Geberit Mepla is corrosion-resistant and light, but more inherently stable and durable than plastic pipes. The system has been tested to EN ISO 21003 and therefore complies with all common standards. It is suitable for use with all drinking water qualities without requiring a previous drinking water analysis and can be used for drinking water and heating installations.

Economically superior
Flexible pipes and fast, reliable connection technology make Geberit Mepla economically attractive. In comparison with other installation techniques it can achieve cost savings of up to 20 percent, as less pipe material and work as well as fewer fittings are necessary. Geberit MeplaTherm supplements the product range with pipes and fittings for heating installations. Pressfittings made of PVDF, brass and gunmetal are available.

High stability

The multilayer pipe combines the benefits of two material types

Using high-quality plastic in conjunction with crosslinked polyethylene and aluminium combines the benefits of plastic with those of metallic piping systems. The thick aluminium layer ensures a high level of stability and exceptional mechanical strength.


Bendable either by hand or with a bending tool

For flexible and reliable use on the building site

Geberit Mepla 16 and 20 mm pipes can easily be bent by hand. They are flexible and can be routed easily. Bending tools can be used for larger dimensions of up to 50 mm.


Weld seam quality

Homogeneous coating for the best bending properties

The homogenous longitudinally welded aluminium layer in Geberit Mepla pipes with its smoothly formed weld seam guarantees the highest possible degree of safety and quality. As a result the aluminium layer does not overlap. The pipe has the same bending properties in all directions. The weld seam therefore determines the quality of the pipe.


Leaky if unpressed

Unpressed Geberit Mepla fittings leak unmistakably when subjected to leak tests with water. Water flows out of the unpressed connections even at low water test pressures and during a leak test of up to 15 bar. A pressure test can only be successfully completed when all fittings have been pressed.


Pressing jaw guide

Pressing errors not possible

The defined jaw guide on the fitting ensures that the pressing jaw is positioned in exactly the right position. It also prevents any risk of the joint slipping or being pressed in the wrong place. This prevents failed pressing sequences and ensures a reliable and durable connection.


Retaining force of the fitting

Easy, safe installation by one person

Special plastic cams on the plastic fitting and a retaining ring on the metal fittings achieve a high level of retaining force in the pipe and prevent the fitting slipping out of the pipe during assembly. Therefore one person can easily install, align and press the piping system.


Pipe insertion depth

Reliable inspection during pre-mounting and pressing

The pipe insertion depth is always visible. During installation this ensures that the pipe is correctly placed onto the fitting and can be pressed. When pre-mounting the piping system the position of the pipe can be checked at a glance.


Fewer fastening points

No linear expansion due to temperature fluctuations

The special composition of Geberit Mepla pipes with the thick aluminium layer prevents the pipes expanding in response to temperature fluctuations. The installation therefore requires fewer fastening points than with conventional plastic pipes.

Safety for high loads

The tremendous tensile strength of the Geberit Mepla pressed joint ensures reliable, durable connections. The quality of the press connection is constantly checked and exceeds the values demanded in the standards many times over. This guarantees a high standard of reliability, even in piping systems subjected to high loads.


Internal surface of the pipe

As smooth as glass for minimum adhesion

The inner plastic layer of the Geberit Mepla pipes has a surface roughness of only 0.0009 mm. This means there is little friction to impede the flow of water along the surface, permitting higher flow rates. It is more difficult for limescale and biofilm to adhere to the smooth surface. The high-quality PE-Xb Gebesil is a Geberit invention.

Geberit Mepla fittings are equipped with three safety precautions: The pipe insertion depth is always fully visible and indicates the correct position of the pipe on the fitting at all times. The bead on the fitting helps with regard to where to position the tool and ensures exact pressing. Finally, non-pressed connections can be clearly identified during the leak test. In addition to the fittings made of PVDF, a wide assortment of fittings made of gunmetal or brass is available for threaded connections.

Geberit Mepla multilayer pipes are made up of three layers. The outer plastic layer made of high-density polyethylene (PE-HD) protects against corrosion and mechanical damage. The central aluminium layer makes the pipe stable, bendable and forms a barrier against diffusion. The inner layer of crosslinked polyethylene (PE-Xb) is corrosion-resistant and food-safe and can be used for all drinking water qualities without additional drinking water analysis.
